Ji-Young LEE seeks to create poetic and vividly colored music. Often inspired by texts, paintings, or films, her work aims to bring poetic imagination into music as directly as possible. Her approach, primarily intuitive, is also expressed through a focus on the resonances shaped by different sonic spaces and on developing correspondences between colors and sound. She blends instrumental timbres to construct an acoustic landscape that invites the listener or spectator into an imaginative world. Ji-Young aspires to collaborate with a wide range of writers, visual artists, and creators from various disciplines. Born in 1993 in Seoul, South Korea, she was admitted in 2013 to the composition department of Seoul National University, where she studied with Shinuh Lee. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in 2018, she moved to France to continue her studies at the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt with Jean-Luc Hervé and Yan Maresz. Following the completion of her DEM (Diplôme d’Études Musicales) in 2020, she entered the CNSMD of Lyon, studying composition with Martin Matalon, Daniel D’Adamo, and Aurélien Dumont, and obtained her Master’s degree in 2025. She is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the same institution under the supervision of Jean Geoffroy.

Some composers create in silence, for lack of support. We want to give them a free space to express themselves Because our initiative is not just an artistic event - it's a social, political and deeply human act.
