Nice International Music Festival and Academy (NIMFA)
NIMFA is an international event dedicated to contemporary music, interdisciplinary creation, and innovation. Held annually in Nice, it brings together composers, performers, artists, and researchers from around the world, fostering dialogue, experimentation, and the exchange of ideas.
The project is structured around two complementary programmes: NIMAcadémie and the NIMFA Festival
The NIMFA Festival
The NIMFA Festival introduces audiences to the latest developments in contemporary music and interdisciplinary practices while highlighting landmark works from the post-war repertoire to the present day. Its programme brings together works by NIMAcadémie participants, emerging artists, and internationally established figures. In doing so, it contributes to the vitality of the local cultural scene, encourages dialogue between generations, and makes contemporary creation accessible to a broader audience.
Deeply rooted in the city of Nice, the festival builds connections between music, other artistic disciplines, and new technologies. Cultural diversity, gender equality, and environmental responsibility lie at the heart of its mission. Through collaborations with internationally renowned artists, ensembles, and institutions, NIMFA provides a distinctive platform for original creations, artistic transmission, and multicultural exchange.
NIMFA offers an immersive artistic experience, inviting audiences to discover contemporary music from a fresh, vibrant, and inspiring perspective.
NIMAcadémie
Founded in December 2023 under the name Horizon Étendu, the academy now continues its activities as NIMAcadémie. It supports emerging composers and artists in their creative development and integration into international professional networks through a combination of online activities and in-person sessions.
Open to applicants of all nationalities, NIMAcadémie provides a space for learning, creation, exchange, and collaboration. Particular attention is given to participants from disadvantaged regions or those facing economic, social, or political challenges, with tailored support offered whenever possible.
