Round-Table Discussion – Exploring the "Cinq Règles" of SpectroDuo

Before the performance of "Cinq Règles", join us for a round-table discussion featuring the four composers of the program—Gaël Navard, Inga Margrete Aas, Anna Sowa, and Hanna Mesgari—alongside the artistic director of NIMFA, Alireza Farhang. This conversation will offer a rare insight into the creative processes behind the works, exploring the intersection of composition, improvisation, performance, and sonic experimentation.

Each composer brings a unique perspective, pushing the boundaries of musical form and expression:

Gaël Navard (Klangwelten) will discuss his approach to real-time sound manipulation, where acoustic and electronic textures dissolve into a fluid, ever-changing sonic landscape. His work blurs the line between music and noise, immersing the audience in an auditory paradox of granular transformations and spectral modulations.

Inga Margrete Aas (Vierhändig (cluster)) will explore the concept of shared experience and vulnerability, where two performers become interdependent through sound and movement. The discussion will reveal how a guitar and an overhead projector become a space of tension, intimacy, and cooperation, questioning the very nature of performance.

Anna Sowa (Escape) will reflect on the fluidity between composition and improvisation, as well as the dissolution of classical forms. How does music interact with physical movement? How can instrumental performance become theatrical? This work embraces unpredictability, building progressive tension and leading the audience into unfamiliar sonic landscapes.

Hanna Mesgari (NoireSilence) will delve into her inspiration from Arthur Rimbaud’s "Une saison en enfer", merging poetry, recorded voice, and theatrical performance. Through this discussion, she will reveal how her piece channels the poet’s wandering spirit and existential anguish, crafting an emotionally charged sonic and textual experience.
