Born in 1969 in Tehran, Peyman Yazdanian began studying piano at the age of six and continued his training to an advanced level with his teacher Farman Behboud. At twelve, he started studying harmony and composition with Paulus Khofri.
After moving to France, the Iranian composer pursued advanced studies in Marseille with professor and pianist Ginette Gaubert. In 2000, he won First Prize at the Excellence Competition of the Confédération Musicale de France (CMF). Alongside his career as a pianist, he composed numerous works for solo piano.
From 1998 onward, he turned to film scoring. He began collaborating with both Iranian and Chinese directors and has composed one or more film scores almost every year since.
Internationally recognized, Peyman Yazdanian won two Golden Horse Awards for Best Original Score for Spring Fever (2009) in 2010 and Mystery (2012) in 2012. He was also nominated for Best Composer at the Asian Film Awards in 2013 for Mystery.
In 2017, he received the award for Best Original Score at the Malmö Arab Film Festival for Only Men Go to the Grave (2016).
In 2023, he won Best Original Score at the Rome International Movie Awards for Pandemic Trilogy (2023).
At the Fajr Film Festival, he has been nominated four times in the “Best Music” category for Tabagheye Hasas (2014), Be Donya Amadan (2016), Cas de conscience (2016), Just 6.5 (2019), and African Violet (2019).
