A
tribute to The Organizing Committee of the 3rd International Maar Conference will dedicate the Conference to Professor Volker Lorenz. He is the Chair of the Department of Geology from the University of Würzburg-Germany and one of the pioneers of modern physical volcanology. Prof. Lorenz made an immense contribution to our understanding on maars and diatremes in Germany and worldwide, and also in physical volcanology of phreatomagmatic explosions in the root zone of maar-diatremes. Prof. Lorenz is also recognized as one of the best specialist in diamond-yielding Kimberlite and Lamproite diatremes. |
